Both painter and filmmaker steal from the world in front of their eyes.

The act of stealing, the theft, is for both of the authors, painter and filmmaker, a symbolic act. They both steal from the world in front of their eyes and from the past - depot of ideas - as well, making the act of painting and filmmaking an act of symbolical theft.
